Hi all,

Am making stairs for the house from dressed hardwood. Ran everything thru the thicknessor, so all my surfaces are nice and clean.

Got a fair bit of Minwax wipe on poly left over from another job. its only a couple of treads and risers.

Would this stuff be ok for this situation, as in its obviously a high traffic area. Previously I have only used wipe on poly for ordimental stuff to hang on the wall

Thanks in advance,

Jatt

Hi Jatt

I must admit I have never used Miniwax WOP but something in the deep dark recesses of my atrophied brain tells me it may not be the ideal poly for high traffic areas. A few months ago I got some Wattly 7008 (it included 500 ml of Part A and 500 ml of Part B) for about $38 from my local Wattyl Trade Centre.

I also got some 7008 Thinner later but it was pretty expensive I thought (it may have been around the $40 mark for 1 litre ???) So if its a one-off job, it may be cheaper to buy a reasonable quality brush and throw it away after you use it.

Cheers
Phil

I've used it to resurface a dining room table, gave it 7 coats to get a perfect finish. This was 2 years ago and no problems so far. So I think it would be quite okay.
