Just saying hi. Name is Drewe, i'm a computer guy in work life, married with a couple of kids. Dabbled in woodworking in the past, but getting back into it again now with a little time. Funny though, after reading and learning lots of things some of my old work looks decidedly dodgy :D
Been hanging round for a little, mainly reading, I'm sure I will get to posting on day!

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum, Drewe.
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork.
Cheers crowie
PS - While computers are a good assistance when they work, nothing beats working with timber creation something.....

Ok. A chance to post. What have you made? What do you like making?
You might have noticed that we do tend to joke around a little.

Joking works fine with me :D
In the past I made a massive (read: Massive) desk for my wife and her craft\stamping\etc. 7 foot wide by 5 foot deep, with shelves and fully modular so it can be disasembled with a few screws. The top was nice (individual boards biscuit joined - THAT was fun), the rest of it is not so nice. I didn't have the tools (excuse), and I didn't know what I was doing (truth). I just took to wood and saw what happened. Actually, we have moved countries and multiple houses with it in 5 years, so, it can't be that bad.
I'm now building loft beds for the kids, but trying to do it properly. read: not wanting kids to fall from 5 feet in the air because of dodgy work. Hence, here I am, learning just a little :D
