I used to have one night a week on which I would watch all of my shows on the HOW TO Channel. They were,
Great British Woodshop
Modern Masters
Wood Works
Making Music (or similar)
The DIY show (was only slightly better than Better Homes and Gardens)
Four shows in a row. WOO HOO. Well. The great HOW TO channel must be about to change it's name to the Martha Stewart Channel:mad:. If I wanted to watch bluddy cooking I would put on one of the two bluddy cooking bluddy channels:mad:. OR friggin Quilting:mad: OR Friggin Scrapbooking:mad:. The only real reason I got digital is for the DIY and woodworking shows.

Years and years they had the "NBA game of the week" (American basketball) on ABC every Friday night.

I saw an ad for the Hitchhikers movie last night. Looks good, full on special effects, light years ahead of the TV show. Only one problem - they're all Septics!!!!

Actually looks like there's a couple of poms in it, including Martin Freeman (The Office) as Arthur Dent and Stephen Fry as the Book. But Ford Prefect is a black rapper!!!

Don't you remember the Brit version years ago? (Ooops, obviously you do :o )
I'm afraid some subtlety may be lost in the Seppo version.

I can't say I'd be looking forward to a seppo version. The American film industry might be good at some things but subtle humour, particularly British humour, is not one of them. They'll fiddle with it and seppofy it and, well, **** it up :( The don't get aussie humour either do they - Hoges and Irwin had to go slapstick to make it work over there.
But that won't stop me watching it, I just won't be looking forward to seeing it.
Something a writing mate and I like doing is watching various versions of movies back to back and analysing the story telling. This gets particularly interesting when you compare Japanese originals with American remakes or British originals with American remakes. The yanks (in general - they too have their geniuses) don't have a clue, which is why the American film industry currently pumps out stuff aimed at mollifying the largest number of people rather than giving a quality product to a smaller group.
Cheers

Apparently Douglas Adams wrote the screenplay and had a fair bit to do with the early stages of it, so maybe it wont be too bad. There is a new character played by John Malkovich that was created and written in by DA.

Anything but lawyers, cops and murders (and all the combinations of them - cops murdering murderers, murderes murdering cops, do-gooder seeing murders in the future ......). That really cuts it down quite a bit.
The fish tank on channel 31 isn't bad :D

Saw and ad on The Martha Stewart Channel last night. They now have a Master wood carving show on Thursdays at 9pm. They take off two popular woodworking shows to put on another woodworking show that is too specialised for most people.

The New Yankee Workshop, except that they are playing the same series for the 4th time round, well, 4th time since I got Austar put on :(
Don't want to go digital as I have enough trouble now wrestling the remotes away from HWMNBO - (He Who Must Not Be Obeyed :) ) just to watch a few other programmes I like, let alone be able to watch some new shows.

After watching A place in France (ABC) I also discovered that service 21 digital has a place in Greece and a place in Italy.
I have formed the opinion that all real estate agents are bastards regardless of what country they come from and tradesmen will screw you given half a chance, especially if you are an inferior English speaking intruder in their donkey herding community :D :D :D :D

For me it would have to be The Shield.
Channel 10 never gave it a good run so it doesn't have much of a following here but it is brilliant.
I've got series 1,2,& 3 on dvd and I get series 4 ep by ep via bit torrent as it shows in the US.
Cheers
