As Dai Sensai posted in the Blue Mountains GTG thread, he is visiting my place before heading off to the mountains. He also added a subtle hint about a Hunter GTG.

After talking with him, the only day available would be Saturday 9th February, SO.....

Happy to have a GTG here (pm for details/address/phone number etc.) starting earlyish as Neil will be heading off late in the afternoon to get to the Mountains for an evening nap and an early start. I have a few lathes available.

Not sure of food details, but perhaps something similar to Sunday's. We have plenty of hot water and will provide tea, coffee, milk etc. BYO lunch and other drinks, like coke etc. A BBQ is also available for those who wish to cook something.

NCArcher has kindly offered to forward this to members of the Hunter Forum.

An indication of those able to attend would be handy, and maybe some fold-up chairs. We live on 13.5 acres so plenty of room for parking.

Will add more details soon, if I can think of any. Margaret will sort me out there I'm sure.

Cheers, Paul

Certainly at this stage you can put me down. It would be great to catch up with as many people as possible and also neil who I last saw at his house in November.

Anyone interested in a wood swap for the day? Pen blanks maybe or somewhat similar, I was thinking... bring a nice blank and into a bucket and get the one that comes out? Bring 1 bring 3? Maybe for the pen turners involved it should be specified burls or not?? Got plenty of burl blanks I am willing to share in some such arrangement.

I can cover the sensai if need be...

I have some pen timber I want to share on the day so will be bringing some up to cut, small stuff as my band saw is down ATM. I will also be bringing some of the reel seats I turn to show off, I hope some of you will be bringing pieces to be looked at.

this looks to be a real treat for me, being a bloke that does not associate in wood circles. I hope to get some valuable info and some 1st hand experience with the lathes.

I am also a bit excited to see Wood Nuts cabinet making workshop as turning is a sideline to my slab work. I prefere big lumps of timber, slabs and rough edges etc... but if I can be persuaded to make "fine furniture" it wouldn't be a bad thing. I'm gagging to see what is involved and have a go.

cheers

I'll have to miss out too, thanks to a long-arranged-can't-get-out-of engagement :( Shame, I would have liked the chance to meet you blokes who make good stuff from good wood, unlike myself! Guess you'll have to wait a bit longer to meet this powertool using termite...

Well I have had a few delays :-, but I am on my way tomorrow :2tsup:, unless some thing else goes wrong

So much for the slow casual trip down, only just enough time for one night at each stop now :(. The big burl at Nabiac will have to wait, no room in the trailer anyway, next trip maybe or perhaps on the way back

Dam Neil what do you have in the trailer??

I've got an extra, heavy yellow thingie, I'll blame it all on that :U.

This trip was a trial, I wanted take what I might need for a longer trip, so it has quite a few blanks/kits/market set-up etc on board. See http://www.woodworkforums.com/f119/all-packed-not-ready-go-165722/ for a few issues I've had with the load.

Photo 3 - NZ_Carver, Grumpy (who wasn't here!!!), Dorno and
Photo 4 - Dai sensei's lightweight trailer:C
Photo 5 - NCArcher (Tony), Pilchard (Dean) and Gordon in my immaculate shed:no:.
Notice how similar it is to Fence Furniture's (on the Sunday GTG) for those who tried to find dust in Brett's workshop.
