Just wondering how the Blue Mountaineers would feel about a get-together. There must be quite a few of us, and I can think of the following members who are in the BM or nearby:

Crowie
Sebastiaan56
Ozhunter
Rustynail
Skew ChiDAMN!!
RayH
Mick72
Jarrahfrog
Jdadley57
Bluntles
Mike_R
I_wanna_shed (not local, but visits regularly)
Rusty Schwartz
Shannon
David Stanley
DIY DAN
Jchappo
Satorumusashi
Rhys43
Imagineero
Rusel
Metalman
Swarfmaker
Bordo
Curlywood
Orraloon

It’s always great to know who is around, and Networking is great fun (pick ups, deliveries, various other favours that can be done).

Work out a date and I will see what I can do. Working night shift makes it difficult to do anything during the day.

Date and venue TBA. I'm thinking a Sunday, bearing in mind that some may well work (as opposed to work well) on Saturdays.

Prolly some time in Feb.

Up to 30-40 people could be handled here (home) I reckon, but I don't mind where it is. Plenty of parking, and well and truly time to give a bit back to the neighbours.:~ It also has the advantage of being a 5 min walk from Katoomba Station, and all downhill. Fear ye not of the walk back to the Station for you'll only be heavier by food, not by tools.

Now with that in mind I thought of contacting members around the Blue Mountains to visit when I was down there and.....look whats happening.....
Could you pencil me in? Its an opportunity I really should try to make happen

Well this thread has had a good run of interest
I am available most times.
You will want to think about if it going to have food (BBQ, finger food, ect) and how you want to fund it.
I will offer that I can stop off on the way up the hill and pick up supplies, if this helps out.
Also pick up any who want a lift who along my way.

Hints for Forum Get Togethers.

Set a date. Not everybody can make it and you can't please everyone.

Don't cater. This is not a dignitaries BBQ with silver service. It is a backyard BBQ and should be kept casual. If you want formal you may as well go to a restaurant.

Everyone brings their own lunch. The host only has to supply the venue, a BBQ (preferably a big one) and tea, coffee, sugar and milk. A lot of that is needed if they are normal woodies.:D An urn is handy.

If it is just a yakfest no other planning is needed, if it has a theme or demonstration get people to bring along an object pertinent to the theme. Be prepared that you could get inundated with stuff and not everyone will get to show or talk about what they have.

Bring a chair.

Its interesting to see the wide range of people already considering attending Bret so many into woodworking and/or metalworking of such wide varieties a vast conglomerate of knowladge

I think someone already said some may be away on holidays. I wonder about such as

Alexs
Ian
Ruddy
Hardenfast
Colbra
Christos
Edited to add
Rogera...........Sydney's Allan from Wallan always good with jokes often better than Allan's (sorry Allan)

There of course could be so many more if your place can handle it.

Plenty of decent restaurants in Katoomba which could cater for 50 to 100 people at reasonable group rates even if it was just for lunch, no clean up after.

Lets hope that fire or water restrictions are not imposed on the day

Bring a collapsible chair

No theme, but maybe you want to bring a small tool or two for discussion. Something that's hard to get, rare, super-useful, or that you have made yourself.

I have a trip planned down to the Hunter Valley at the end of January. Exact dates are not settled and are a little flexible, although I have to head back to QLD no later than 27/1/13. If the date is around end of Jan I would be keen to come along. Would a QLD drivers licence and a Oz passport be sufficient to gain entrance?

In any event it looks as though you are going to have a good attendence. They are coming out of the woodwork .
