Hi there,
My name is Danny and have lived in Bulgaria for a tad over 7 years now. I'm trying to get a woodshop up and running here to compliment the building renovation work I do. So far I've managed to buy and renovate an old workshop in my village. It was a wreck when I bought it with gaping big holes in the roof no windows and no electric or water. Im gradually getting to the point where I can start work.
I joined as I'm interested in converted logs and I'm tempted to make my own swing blade mill. I'm still researching this for parts etc. But have taken quite a lot of inspiration from a guy on Utube called Troopy1. Not sure if he is on here. I'd like to say a big thankyou to him.
Main reason for needing to do this is lack of converted dry wood and even stuff like pine is more for building trade and sold wet not seasoned.
Whenever I have bought logs it tends not to be milled too well. Usually the mills use vertical bandsaws and the operation is quite manual and they dont seem to understand what quatersawn wood is.
Bulgaria is very much a try it and see if it works type country so suits me and also has proper seasons to the extreme from 40C in summer to -30 in Winter. My aim is to do more woodwork in winter when its too cold outside and still build in summer.
Look forward to chatting to you guys.
Ciao for now
Danny
