I made a torsion box, 2.25" thick.

Currently, I intend to prime it, paint it black, and put on a satin or semi-gloss polyurethane.

However, that leaves me with a box... It needs to become a table.

Without spending too much money, how would you finish it?

My thought was, to get some decent 2x4s and use them as a frame under the bottom. Attach them to the studs in the wall at one end of the table, and cut the 2x4 ends @ 45º so they mate up nicely.
And then for vertical support at the opposite end of the table, use a pair of 4x4s.

However, I am generally terrible at aesthetics. I have a feeling that, going from a black table to natural wood 2x4s, will look awkward.
Any advice?
