A couple of months ago I posted a question about restumping. After all the advice I got I have decided to not use red gum. I might use concrete but at the moment I am more interested in steel stumps can anyone reccomend where to get them etc I am in Victoria

G'day Bear,

I've used these LYSAGHT UNI-PIER (http://www.bluescopesteel.com.au/au/index.cfm/objectID.AFF127E6-09E5-11D4-89F100C04FCF6B8F)

and can recommend them.

I am not sure not sure if this will help but these are some stumps that a friend has made for his house. The stump was 3 inch RHS and on top of that there was a piece of similar RHs welded on its side. The threaded rod went through a hole in the top RHS and had a nut on it. Then on top there was a plate which you bolt to the bearers of the house.

The main advantage of this is that you have the capability to adjust the stumps later on down the track if you need to and you don't have to be as critical when you place the stumps.

P.S. We had a local metal fab bloke make them for him. Not very expensive out of memory.
