So let me guess, yours is the wrong way.
What a lot of bother for a cord.
I'm a big loop and just keep going around (sorry).

I'll bet your a roll the socks into a ball and then tuck as well...

I'm a big fan of that technique too.

In previous jobs I've had to lay out long cables and being able to throw them straight down the length of a long room without farting around undoing knots is a massive time saver. Once everything is laid out, it's also nice to be able to stand (mostly) in one spot to roll the cables back up again. After a while, if you're using the same cables and are reasonably accurate with your roll ups, they tend to automagically take the form you want them to go in for each twist.

Nope all white and the live in the dryer.
Sometimes, just sometimes they will get put together and just the tops get folded over, But never the roll into big ball and fold last bit...

Boot and shoe people wear black ones. I, on the other hand(or foot) , have all different coloured hand knitted ones.

hi folks had to jump in here as my pet hate is extension leads and air hoses, this is the first thing any apprentice or laborer ive had work for me learns how to do start winding at the female end nice big loops no figure of 8's.
i never bothered to tie them they were the last thing in the truck and first thing out they were just layed flat on top of everything else. in the morning drop the male end at the power source and walk to wherever i was working most of my leads are 30 mtr leads

This is what we did when i worked in the shipyards.

Hold the plug in the right hand, spread your arms out then bring the left hand to the right hand twisting the cord with your fingers as you do so and forming a loop.
This works on welding cables and air hoses and takes the kinks out.

:whs: You would think it is simple to understand and do.

When working, the unskilled and brain dead would wind up the leads in no particular fashion, leave them on the floor near the power outlets and always leave them with the plug ends on the bottom of the coil. So when you wanted to use it next you had to turn the coil over so the lead would uncoil. :gaah:

But winding it like that actually twists the cord as you UN wind it. You would have to unwind it by carefully untwisting it. With the "roady wrap: you don't have to cos each 2nd twist already untwists the twist you put in the twist before.:C

For a long cord you can't go past the chain knot with the cord doubled, for medium cords my son (the roadie) showed me what the professionals do (TL's method) and for short cords, I use the butterfly over the elbow method. Plain old loop winding finds no use at all for me.

when you plug the ends together you are effectively winding half the cord in one direction and the other in the other direction. Half is wound up and half is unwound.

And the other absolute fact about an extension cord, compressor hose or rope is that when you're dragging one around the work site it will catch on the slightest obstacle at every opportunity. But if you were falling over a cliff, hanging onto one and relying on it to catch on something and save your life...yep you guessed it......... smooth as silk.

Best method of winding leads of any kind that I have seen is to wind them up on garden hose reels. You can daisy chain them together and they don't kink.
