While spamming away on the forums here today I got to wondering what other things woodies do when they take a break from the workshop. I realise that for some of you getting out of the dayjob woodwork type means continuing at home in your own shops with projects, but I guess the great magority of us are part-timers at best.

So what do you do with your time off?

There's 2 things I like doing most...I make astronomical telescopes, thats grind & figure the mirrors and make the structure, usually a combo of wood and aluminium.

The second thing I like doing is playing online first person shooters, paricularly Quake 3. This gives me the oppotunity to compete and have fun with my son, and stops me annoying SWMBO cos she likes to paint (using my easel of course :D )

Movies and a good BBQ rate highly as well...your turn...;)

Im bit of a gamer too, better than watching the normal yanky sitcoms/cop shows that they keep drumming down our throats... and its better than sitting down the pub playing silly pokies, it makes me laugh when the older generation that said... bloody video games, look what there doing our youger generation... Mmmm yes look at you I say, youre playing the most basic video games and paying out big dollars doing it!

I like it because its interactive, you can control whats happening I like the games that you need to think about what youre doing as it will affect your whole game later on good example of this is Theif2 or Fable its a whole world in itself, you can be a goodguy or a baddy the story will follow what you do and the desisions you make.

Still games like the Quake series and Doom are good because you just kill every thing that moves... if it dont move still kill it!(great way to relieve stress)

Video games have come a long way nowdays, I've had people think they are watching a movie they freak when they realise its a 3D game!
