Hi guys, I am a bit Pssst off at the moment with a tv/dvd/vcr company called Digitrex. So I am putting this on the web to warn you unsuspecting persons that the company has almost no parts supply in Astralia, A DVD recorder has been in for repair on warranty for six weeks and still no ETA. Telefix tells me it because of parts supply, so I contacted Digitrex and told them I was "NOT IMPRESSED" and apparrently there is a shotage of parts. same old story but still no ETA.
Oh by the way the 12 month warranty does not get extended by the ammounmt of time you do nmot have the machine.
just thought I would let you all know in case you were about to let yourselves in for the same lousey service!!!!

This is why I usually go for "name" brands.

Should always do your research!
I don't buy brand names cause you pay thru the nose for the name.
I bought a 76cm wide screen tv for $699...which uses the same picture tube as a well known brand! The only thing that seems cheap in it, is the speakers, but that is easily fixed with a good seat of speakers :)

I thought the importers of this product (I thinks it's Mistral) did a 12 month replacement warranty.
Even the name brands have problems and with the cheaper DVD's they are not worth repairing as the parts and labour exceed the cost of the unit.

Hi Taffy
I did a search on the net:
This person had a similar experience to you (ie parts) and finally got a refund.

Iain - according the digitex, they offer a standard 12 month warranty ie repair or replace at their discretion.

So is this the type of thing we were talking about in that other thread?

Assuming everything Taffy says is true and he isn't deliberately trying to be malicious then I would say there is nothing libelous about any of this post.

Well, I don't know. I'm certainly not having a go at Taffy, I support this type of thing because I reckon that anyone who put's themself up in a business is fair game if they don't deliver what they say they will. I'd hate to live in a society where people were afraid to speak their mind on a subject for fear of being sued over it. Your opinion is one of the few things you have that no-one can take away from you.

I'm guessing the other thing is slander or defamation thread???
I don't think telling the truth about whats happening can be taken to court unless they were in the middle of a court case.
If digitrex where to take say taffy to court, he could pull the evidence out that what he said was true!

There's only a few 16:9 TV tube makers in the world, thompson is the main one(think topset boxes here in aus)who makes tubes for many brands, my TV a Loewe 76cm 16:9 has a screen made by Thompsons it cost $3K, its highly likely that your screen is made by them too... when I brought mine I compared it to several name brands like Sonys 76cm wega and a panasonic(all were the around the same $$$)there wasnt much in it at all, went and sussed the top brands like Metz and Grundig(spelling?)still couldnt see much difference... they all use the thompson, look at any brand below $2k(including the said brands)there was a hell of a difference blacks were grey, picture wasnt as sharp some were very blurred and not one of the cheapys could display a straight line without a curve in it.(they used thompsons too).

Just to clarify, I have the Email sent as a reply to me from digitrex apologising for the delay in supply of parts. the return address was Digitrex support "
[email protected]", so the repairer is also the the Aust agent.
as for the product, when it was working it was good, its the after sales service that stinks, and that could be true of the most expensive brands, you never know until the time comes to claim.

Well I checked my tv out, black is black and its straight. Maybe I have crooked eyes but I don't think so lol
And the price of my tele was the special... it later went up to $1299.
I'm happy with my purchase. I can't justify spending $1k -$5k on an idiot box... My dvd player cost $69 ha hahahahahaha
My video player cost triple that 3 years ago LOL
