Hello, my name is Andy.
Just started woodworking as a hobby, just built my first shoe rack, very basic...
Looking to build new skills and learn new things from this forum
Here's a pic the shoe rack,

Nice to meet you all

Hi Andy, (from another Andrew, who also grew up in Blacktown - small world!)

The shoe rack looks good, and I'm guessing the variety of shoes shows votes of approval from others in your household.

I would suggest one change to the design - instead of a single central piece running from front to back under each shelf, have two - one at each end of the shelves.
My concern is the fasteners which go straight into the ends of the shelves. They are in line with the grain, and could split the shelves if the load is heavy enough.

If you had a support at each end, the fasteners could go through the uprights, and into the supports (across the grain of each part), and another fastener up through the cross support into the shelf (across the grain of each part).

Given the weight of the shoes, I don't think you have a problem with the existing rack, but this is something to consider and address in your future projects.

Cheers,
Andrew

Thanks mate!!
Will use that info on my next project.
I did have one pierce split when i hammered a nail into it, but lucky I had spare wood.

Hi Andy, and welcome. The rack seems to be working OK. I like the little pink fluffy things.
Good to have you aboard, even better if you have a board.:)
