If you want to tell me that you love me, send me a PM, and I will send you my telephone number.

Closest thing to instant message is to click on their name on the left, above their avatar. A drop down menu has options of "send PM to..." and "send email to..." that will take you straight to the right screen to send a message.

Its not a good idea to tease chimps. They're nasty little B's.
Just a couple of weeks ago, one of Zed's kin attacked a guy and his wife at an animal refuge. Ripped out the guy's eye and bit off his foot, a finger and his testimonials. Definitely not nice! And all because the chimp wanted a share of the birthday cake they'd brought for another chimp. So if Zed ever asks you for a birthday cake, give it to him.

Zed

There is no instant messaging facility on vBulletin (the software that runs this forum). However, if you have instant messaging via another service, eg Yahoo or MSN etc, you can enter the details in your profile and an extra icon appears under your name with a link to your instant messaging service. But it does need both sender and receiver to set it up, which means that really the answer is no.

Not at all, said daughter is but 21 years old, has a couple of degrees and still studying, one of them is a B Sc majoring in Neuroscience (a subject in which she achieved a perfect score) so she's a fair dinkum expert in things relating to the brain, and was the one that introduced me to the Foil Beanie site in the first place.

(We share a similar interest in all things!)

She was particularly concerned that no alien mongrel would steal all our happy thoughts on the day!

Lovely photo, the foily suits you. :D

Just one question if I may? Al, the grand foil master and Grand Puba of the foily order, only wears a silver one so why are you wearing a gold one?

Bit Queenslandish is it? :D

Peter,

No Aluminium is the ONLY material that can be guaranteed to work all the time!! It's just a trick of the light that makes it look gold, but it is very much a proper aluminium one!!

(Of course the shape is a little flasher than the normal one, because of the occasion.)

Rocker,

Happy to relate that this photo, and shots either side of it on the digital
"roll" have not been retouched.

They WERE however taken by a pro called "Rob" (I think his mother might have been an alien, judging by his hair)

Your comment that the photograph was not retouched in my opinion rasises a very valid point.

In these days of digital photography I think all photographs should have a caption added to the effect stating: Manipulated or Unmanipulated. In fact I think it should be almost an international law?

Interesting point.
The Port Fairy Tourist Info Centre has a photo of the 12 apostles with a nice sunset behind them. (Apparently the sun must have set in the north that evening.) And none of the tourist centre workers were even aware of it!!!!

No, Rob is a friend of my eldest (a photographer) and did the honours for us, just a whacky bloke who fits in pretty well round here! (and a pretty good fashion photographer to boot!)

Most digital photos are manipulated in some way, for instance the shots above have been reduced to 72 dpi from an original "neg" from a 12 megapixal camera.

We have about 400 shots from the day, and even the better ones may get a small amount of doctoring, a sharpening or softening here or there or at least a crop.

Photos taken by me usually need a good deal more though!

Unless the image has had additional additons or subtractions like removing something from the background or adding an object into the composition, I don't think it is any different to using filters, advanced darkroom techniques or even hand colouring in the old days>

Cheers,

P (Consider this thread well and truly hijacked now!)

I use photoshop to reduce the original down to 45 % of the original size and then sometimes crop it to remove extranemous matter. I have to do this because the board won't let me post the original size.

So should I put with them that they are manipulated ?

No.

That's my point (as usual lost in all the surplus words!) but here again with all removed:

Also try IrfanView (http://www.irfanview.com/). It does resizing, cropping, converting etc. of images.
