I'm after the Earlex HVLP 5000 sprayer 1.5 needle kit but where to buy one from. Amazon don't ship to Australia, Carba-tec sell Earlex but not the different size needle kits. Help please.

hey superbunny, how was the HVLP? i just bought one off ebay, the 6900 model, been doing so much research about it and most of it good feedback, planning to move my skills forward so i'm going on to do some lacquer spraying work. also, do you know where to buy good quality satin lacquer in perth?

Hi Jovian, I just got my HVLP 5000 unit today that I purchased on eBay also. It took exactly 5 days from Manchester, England, to arrive in Caboolture, Qld, Australia, what great delivery service. I also saved $145 by not buying from Carba-tec, but I did give them a chance before I went to ebay. I hope to be spraying shellac when my needle kit arrives.

No, I do not live in Perth so I don't know where to buy quality lacquer from.:D:D

Haha I think we are doing the same thing at the same time! Since I got a bigger I was thinking to go for a better kit so I bought the 6900 with lower price than aus too!! Just one step away to go to carbatec before search on eBay!
Do u know anything about the 110v, 60 hz thing? They told me to please note and I've no clue about it!

Jovian,
You'll need a 240V to 110V transformer capable of around 1200W (the Earlex is rated at 1100W). This will add a couple of hundred $$ to your cost.
The motor will turn slower so your air flow will be reduced, probably something you don;t want in a compressor.

Yes, that is the USA electric system so stay away from it. Buy from the UK as theirs is 230 and that is ok for Australia that has 240w system and that's why I got mine on eBay with a UK tool supplier.:D:D

hi supper bunny, i've got this email from earlex:

Thanks for contacting us with your questions.

The 5500 is a two stage turbine that pushes 43 cfm at 5.5 psi.

The 6900 is a three stage turbine that pushes 72 cfm at 5.5 psi.

More cfm means less thinning, so if heavy bodied material such as latex paint is your primary finish I would recommend the 6900, while if furniture finishes are primary the 5500 does an excellent job.

the 6900 will do a great job.

On the hose connection to the gun you will find a rocker switch. This switch moves an air dam inside the fitting. With the switch full open you get the full thrust of 72cfm air, when you rock that switch to the closed position it will block about 50% of the air which will bring down the cfm to about 40.

Anytime you are spraying something thin like lacquer you should set the switch to the closed position. When you spray something thicker, like paint, leave that switch in the open position.

this is what i got for my 6900 hope will help anyone in the forum who researching for the 6900 model

Yes, I ordered a needle kit and the post is about right to Australia. They will also charge an extra $5 for shipping and handling on top of the shipping charge.:D:D
