Livos kunos white

Hi guys just wondering if anyone had used this finish on jarrah? If so any chance of some pics? I thinking about using it on my slab coffee table. Thanks

Great choice of product if I may say so myself.....but do a sample first. Trying to stain a darker timber lighter will most likely give it a cloudy look. It looks great on e.g. ply or lighter timber, but not sure what your expectations are. Sand the sample to approx 150 grit and appy the oil, remove the excess after about 20 min, this will leave the white pigment trapped in the pores. If you like the look, then the next day cut back with a finer grit to achieve the fine furniture feel. If you sand the first sand too finely, you will glaze the surface and hardly any pigments get trapped which will make little difference to the colour. Don't let me put you off, that is why doing a sample is best, you may be pleasantly surprised or it can go the other way. good luck.

ive used livos ardvos and kunos. they are both great!! it kind of fills the vessels in the grain making them go dark. i have used a sealer under the livos- pre cat laquer and shellac. helps stop the darkening and gives a fuller grain filled finnish without loads of coats.

I have done a test sample on some Tasmanian Myrtle. It didn't soak in a lot but still a nice finish after 3 coats. The clear looked great and will have to aquire some. As Angela says, put a bit on and try it. Thanks for the samples Angela.

How did you go using the lacquer under the oil.... usually it does not work because the oils are penetrating rather than sitting on the surface. The Ardvos is a good general universal oil and because it has less waxes and resins than the Kunos sealer, it penetrates deeper and can deepen the colour of the timber.
Would be nice to see a photo Claw Hama. Good to hear you gave it a go.

Sample timber is Tasmanian Myrtle, straight out of the thicknesser.
Has a lovely low luster.

Yes, it's Simon Zablotski. He actually has quiet a large number of timber samples treated with the oils.....plus he can supply some exotic timbers too.
