Mick,

You are green when it comes to such things.

The grain direction on the door is 90 degrees to that on the so the door could jam in winter.

Using nails is rough and nasty and leaves gaps. The nasty thing about using nails is they conduct the heat and if a kid touched the nail - burnees big time.

Gaps in the rough joints would let cold air into the oven making the flame cooler leading to less efficient burning, higher CO output thus contributing to the greenhouse effect.

Down here we make them properly using handcut dovetails and definitely no nails.

Wake up to yourself and research your subject properly next time. :D

Though if yer in a hurry a nailgun is fast and a coupla tubes of "no more tradesman" fills all the gaps. :D :D :D :D :D
