Hi Guys,

Making a cutlery drawer for the boss and have made it out of MDF. Just wondered if I need to finish it any particular way or any particulr product due to the fact that we'll be putting cutlery from the drawer into our mouths !?

Cheers, Scott

Line it, seal it or paint it well. It isn' the best material for a food utensil drawer.

Over time, you'll find that the utensils (knives in particular) will start scratching/cutting out the end of the drawers and turning the mdf to dust. You might consider putting some solid wood at the pointy end of the drawer. :)

Good advice. I will do that. :2tsup:

I only made it out of MDF because i had a couple of sheets of it in the shed. Will put it together and see how it goes.

You could do a lot worse than drowning it in shelac......shelac is one of the very few food safe finishes.....they use it for coating tablets and lollies.
