Hi folks, I thought it was time I introduced myself and taking into account a new forum member gives away a workbench with thew carpenters vice.
So here goes, starting from leaving school as a young person new had enough money to buy the things that I would have liked to have . So that's when I started building or making my own gear. Over the years I progressed for cabinet making to fibre glassing to metal fabrication to wood turning to anything else that I had to make to get by.
For approximately 10 years I ran a custom woodturning business from home to help pay for tools etc whilst working full time. During that time I designed a custom toolbox to hold Grafoplast items for a small industrial electrical engineering company. Now that turned into a real good money earner. I ended up making 35 of these toolboxes. Anyway jump to now and I'm semi-retired due to a work injury and I'm currently building a new kitchen for my best mate. When it's finished I'll post a few pics of it.
Once the kitchen is finished it will be back to building electric and acoustic guitars, not forgetting the fishing trolley that I have designed and built for those of us who are unable to carry our fishing gear when we go to the local jetty or beach to feed the fish and maybe catch a couple for tea.
Well I think that's enough rambling for the time being; I'm glad to be part of this forum.
Getting back to the workbench that I gave away, over the years many people have helped me along the way so now it's my time to pass on goodwill to someone else.
Cheers Alby
