Hi all!
I'm new to this forum and I hope this finds you all well!
I have just finished my second table with Floods Deks Olje #1 (I think its hydrolic oil???) and its came up AWESOME!!! The reason I used Deks Olje for it was to really seal the timber against any mould that could form from being up here in the tropics (Mission Beach in FNQLD). I would have preffered to do it in pure tung oil the traditional way to get a more deeper clear satin look but again its the mould issue. What I am thinking is go over the top with pure tung oil once the deks olje has cured rubbing pure tung oil in with 600 grit wet n dry then a week later 800, then 1000, 1200, 1500 etc. My question is would anyone know if the deks olje will react badly with the pure tung oil, and has anyone tried blending the pure tung oil with some white vinegar to stop/kill any mould and as a future polish for it? My objective is to keep the natural colour of the timber so I'm not going to use linseed or danish oil etc that will darken the timber. I want to keep it as clear as possible. I dont like varnishes, poly coatings or 2 pacs as the maintenence with them is too much plus they crack, flake and peel after 1 seasons cycle up here. Any info will be greatly appriciated and I thank you in advance! :U
Cheers
