Hi guys, been awhile since I've been in. I am building a baby's cot and have been searching for best oils/lacquers to use as it shows that shellac to be one of them, my questions are where can you buy them is Sydney's south, is it a type of French polish and what's the best way to apply it.i know there's pre-mixed and flakes.
Your advise would be greatly appreciated

When I have used Shellac, I used flakes thinned down as directed and then I thinned again. Bacically meaning that I would need to apply more coats to get a thick cover. I used a brush to apply and again very lightly coating trying to avoid going over the same area twice. So one stroke.
You can French polish, which is a different technique of which I have not as yet tried.
There is also a premixed shellac that can be purchased. You should be able to purchase shellac flakes from most hardware stores but for the premixed shellac or flakes from ubeaut there is a fellow located in Sans Souci called Wood-eze, contact number 9593 4692. He does sell Ubeaut products as well as wood turning products.
I do not have any connection with wood-ese other then being a customer.
