Times have certainly changed since I was a boy playing around in my Grandfathers tool shed making wooden toys using an old wood rasp, bent hand saw and wooden cotton reels for my creations wheels. Metal hooks and eyes my Grandmother had for hanging curtains I used to connect my wooden trains together. My user name is that of our thirty acre bush covered property here in Central Queensland "EREWHON" - an old Gaelic word standing for Paradise. Its been many years since I took a lump of wood and turned it into a toy that gave pleasure to a child, my last attempt was a small wooden chainsaw I made for my son when he was four years old. Painted blue it made him feel important when he went with me to cut firewood. My mates tell me these days that I'm reverting back to my childhood because I now think its time to go back to making wooden toys. Looking at all the great creations on this website I can see I'm going to have to see the Minister of Finance and War about investing in a few tools for me shed. In the mean time I'll look at all here and maybe I'll get to share my creations with you all. Take care all.
Regards Erewhon.

Hi and welcome,
Croeso i WWF

Good choice to come to this forum.

You'll love it.
The only forum I know of where there's little or no swearing, good help and info on just about any subject, not just wood and metal working, and almost the only abuse is occasional thread hijacking because some of us are getting on a bit, and forget things, and get carried away.

You grow vegies?
My beans are in.

Betta get those tools out.

Welcome again

Welcome Erewhon. Thanks for explaining the name - when I first looked at it I thought you'd just put one letter out of place in a "reverse spelling" pun - Erehwon. You will get lots of ideas, help and chances to share your toys here.

Welcome to the forum, personally I do not make wooden toys and at this stage not sure if I will. I do enjoy looking at the work in progress and completed projects of the people on this forum.

Hope to see some from you as well.

Thanks all for the warm welcome, currently I have no projects on the go. I have recently brought a new scroll saw which I hope to learn to use. It arrived several days ago but with all the bad weather of late getting off my property to go and collect it has been impossible. I have some Truck plans I got from Toys and Joys so when everything is setup I'll have scroll work to learn and Trucks to build. In the mean time some long periods of sun shine to dry everything out wont go a stray.
