hey I'm thinking of using some lime wax on my next project... has anyone had any experience with this - also would it be possible to make my own lime mix using builders lime than wax it?

I'm not sure you've got the idea right.
Liming wax simulates the effects of wood that has had a lime wash and since weathered. So the lime/light areas are held in the sunken grain area.
The trouble is I don't know the constituents of Liming Wax, but I'd lay odd's that it does not contain lime. But then again I'm an awful gambler.
Builders lime is fairly dangerous stuff, it certainly reacts with water, but I've no idea what it would do with wax - if you do try this please take all protective measures.

Yeh I'm unsure of that one too, I thought they used to whitewash things (with a lime mix) and then put wax over the top so the white lime didn't rub off on your cloths etc whenever you brushed past. So it was really wax over lime wash.
