G'day. I'm dabbler and probably my name tells my story.

I've been a member for a few years but have lurked and fed from other people's posts but I have a few questions of my own now.

My interests in woodwork are mixed. I'm into woodturning, repairs and restoration of older pieces, converting (read: saving from the tip) other pieces that are beyond repair or never destined to become modern classics. I've also built a number of my workshop benches, cupboards and aids from scratch.

But in most respects I'm still a beginner.

Yeah for a while in the beginning I managed a visit to a local turners group and men's shed a couple of times each week, so my stupid questions could be answered in person. I could read stuff here a sound remotely knowledgeable to more experienced hands.

But then for various reasons, along came a nearly two year period when the only woodworking tools I touched was to attend to decking repairs or changing door furniture. But times have changed and here I am again.
