I recently got an old Disston Dovetail saw from my grandfather. I know already Disttons are very good and valuable saws , but sadly this saw has had a bit of abuse. So I'm wondering how do you sharpen a saw efficently?

Aha! Eficiently as in not stuff it up = send it to the saw doctor.

But...............will your local saw doctor actually know how to sharpen an antique hand saw?
I mean her main work will be industrial bandsaws, chainsaws and benchsaws no?
I'd go armed with some information, tell him the exact set and profile you want and if she looks at you with a dumb experssion, tell him thanks but no thanks.
