If you have a broadband account with Bigbond then its par for the course. Must be the worst provider in the known universe. I hate them with a passion and am forever doing battle with the hopeless morons but where I am its all we can get. Where are the Tbalian when you want them...:((:((:((

I agree with all that - I too have no other option at the moment,
but it is not Bigpond causing this problem.

Hi CH,
Your description of "slow to stopped" is more accurate than my very very slow, but it seems to be waking up now.
I am not with any of the mentioned providers and other sites were OK.

Very, very slow here in Melb on Bigpond ADSL.
Thing with Bigpond is that they will not acknowledge a problem even when there is. If you all to say "I have an outage" the onus is on you to prove that there IS an outage. By then and after 60 or more frustrating minutes on the phone to India, things are no better. India always refuse to escalate to an Australian operator (the Indian call centre gets penalised). The problem with me is that I have no other choice but to go with Bigpond, all the other providers ride on Bigpond's backs around here.
It's a case of bend over and take it like a man.

Has been fast as usual but then I'm on the Optus cable, nothing to do with Telstra' s system.

Bookmark the link below and when you can't get on try it out and you'll find out if it's just you or it's down for everyone. won't help you fix it but at least you'll have some idea what the problem is and if it's widespread or not.

Hi Neil,
Could be a script for Seinfield.... it's not you it's me....:)
I can't get to the forum from iinet, it seems to be a routing problem somewhere, traceroute fails, but that's not conclusive since some routers block traceroute...(I suspect)
I am getting in via telstra (secondary mobile internet connection) at present, but it was also down earlier..
So.. it's not you and it's not me, it's someone else..
Hope this clarifies things a little or others who are busily re-booting modems and checking firewalls...
Regards
Ray

Both forums were off line for 15-20 minutes from around 8:25pm tonight. Fault was with the server in USA.

I'm on Optus, and forum pages have been taking an hour, or more, to load. I'm not having any issues with any other site.

I just remembered that there is intense solar flare activity happening at the moment which will be affecting Northern Hemisphere communications and therefore USA based servers. But Bigpond still sucks.

First time in almost 24 hours I have been able to access forums at all. Still very, very slow. For some reason I cannot raise my user CP at all. Finally accessed Forums a few moments ago and spotted the "On a go slow" thread on the home page. Thought, "I wonder."
On the premise that "Life is short, eat desert first," I will have to wait for the problem to be rectified or rectify itself. Hopefully I can submit this post. Submitting at 0801hrs QLD time.

Having similar problems here, but it seems like it's starting to pick up a little now. Had issues midday yesterday and last night but seemed to be better later in the night (after 10 or so). Slowed down again this morning.
No problems with any other sites

Used Bigpond for the first time today (just signed up for Business Broadband package. These forums and Renovate forum were almost as slow as good old dialup. Bloody pathetic. Every other site I tried seemed to be fine and running at a fairly acceptable speed.
Opened a couple of threads and the posts were coming up at the rate of one post wvery couple of minutes Gave up trying in the end.
Got home and onto the broadband and snap instant everything.
Spoke to Steven (The guru) and he tells me we are getting lots of packet losses up to 35% and this is what seems to be causing the problems. We have a ticket in with the ISP and hopefully this will be rectified soon.

Had issues last night, went to reply to this thread, waited 8 minutes and no reply box, refreshed the page and nothing for 15minutes. Opened a new tab and checked other US hosted sites that I use, all working OK. Ran a speedtest into LA, ping 240ms, download 2.5Mb/s, upload 460Kb/s, checked into Brisbane ping 44, download 14.5Mb/s, upload 460Kb/s.
Gave up at that point.
Tried at 6pm tonight, delays etc were worse than last night, spent some time trying, cleared caches, tried other browsers etc to no avail. Cooked and ate tea, tried again and back to normal.
Optus cable, Melbourne Outer Eastern Suburbs.
Thanks for work involved in tracking and solving problem.

I spoke too soon, internet was fine this morning up til midday, I went out for a couple of hours & came home to an internet that was almost at a stand still.
We had some storms so on the off chance, I got up & pointed my antenna at a different base station, internet is better now but not as good as it was this morning, at least I can use it.
It is the same right across the board for me, not just WWF.
