For some strange reason I thought this one up
whilst eating my brekkie this morning.
As a youngster I was not keen on education but
the family thought I should continue my studies.
However I desperately wanted to become a top
pole vaulter.
My old man said, "But you need something to
fall back on".
So I spent all my pocket money and purchased
a thick landing mat.

Are you a pole vaulter?
No a German, but how did you know my name was Walter.

Alan, are you getting some altitude sickness up there at Pretty Sally?

Alan, are you getting some altitude sickness up there at Pretty Sally?
You call it "altitude" sickness,
my wife insists it is "attitude" sickness.

I reckon your jokes are great, by the way.
Yesterday as we were climbing Pretty Sally with the ute and the camper on the back in third gear at a steady 2,250 rpm, I wondered where you may actually be situated.
I remembered the garage at the top, where the old man filled the canvas water bag there one hot summer day in the early to mid fifties after over heating the Austin A50 and emptying the water bag into the radiator.
There was a water tank on the side or rear of the garage, he refilled it from that, I distinctly remember the old girl asking if he checked for dead animals in the tank.
I knew he hadn't checked anything, he just filled the bag up. It was about this time in life I started to fully understand the value of the phrase, "yes dear!". :U
Today the road is far better and wider, but it is still a long climb, the water temperature gauge in the ute didn't budge, modern vehicles are good.
Mick.

Hi Mick,
As you travel North up Pretty Sally Hill I am located on an acre on the left on the
lower slopes. Used to be able to see the house clearly from the highway but trees now block some of the view. Great view from the house looking East to
Mount Disappointment and surrounds. Beautiful location.
Glad you made it up the hill ... not everyone does.:D
