Howdy all!
After some damage sustained in the recent downpour here in Melbourne (flooded ceiling and damaged plaster in one room, to be repaired under insurance) I was hunting around for some info on installing a floating laminate floor in this room due to the carpet also being soaked (and smelling like something died in there!) and came across this very interesting and useful forum, so joined up.
I am pretty handy with most things, having built desks, bookshelves, carried out repairs around the house, etc and enjoy building with wood and steel. I would like to do a lot more around the place, but am rather restricted by lack of funds usually.
I am married with a Thomas of my own (5yo) and 3 step kids (10, 13, 15yo). Anyone want a teenage boy with attitude? I will cover postage!
I work as a Disability Support Worker, working with a great bunch of guys and girls doing grounds maintenance at schools, nursing homes and housing estates (we have about 30 gardening contracts, with 3 crews going out daily) and we also clean police cars at stations throughout the northern suburbs.
When I complete the floating floor in the bedroom, I will eventually work my way through the house and replace our carpets (cream carpets with kids is not a great idea, and don't look good for very long... they were in the house when we moved in).
Looking forward to keeping in touch with you all and picking up some useful hints along the way!
Dave.
