When I was out in the shed on Friday I heard over the radio that Samoa would be in Australia and New Zealand's time zones rather than aligning them with the eastern side of the world. They said it would make trade with us and the Kiwis more streamlined because they were operating on the day after us due to the zone line.
When I came inside and had tea etc I just happened to mention to the wife that Samoa would be losing a day(31 December) to be able to align themselves with our timeline. She remarked "So how are they going to do that? Issue the population with a paddle, then send them out along the coastline and at a given signal commence paddling the whole island 20 miles to the west?" :C
