Just thought I'd better catch up on my bucket list...apparently the world ends (again) this year ...(something about the Mayans running out of room on their calender..5000 years ago)..
Sheesh..the calender I get from my local mechanic runs out every year..
Anyways..before the world ends I want to..
..Visit Istanbul
..Finish my shed
..Paraglide rainbow beach
..Apologise to Katy McEnzie..
..Make something nice out of that fiddleback Huon pine I've been saving for years..
So...What do you folks want to get done? ..."Before the world ends"

My experience of "mechanics" calendars is they are far more entertaining than the Mayan calendar:wink:.
My impression is that sundry religious groups have predicted the end of the world on numerous ocassions. I am not quite sure how they reconcile their predictive failures:?.
Whatever I get done in 2012 I would like to get done a little quicker than I managed in 2011, which seemed to be a year for slowing down:(.
In any event I trust all forumites have an exceptionally good year with however much of it remains:).

Paul

One of my friends reckons we only get stuff done cos we are gonna die. If we lived forever we would all just put things off till next week.
My bucket list?
-go see central Australia.
-walk that long walkiing track in Tassie!
-have a big exhibition!
-get my s(*% together!
-go paragliding with Undy:cool::D

A good friend sends me heaps of emails and he normally includes a little quote. One of them that came through this year was:
"Don't take life too seriously. None of us are going to get out alive.":oo:
On a more positive note I have left your bucket list in:). Sounds OK to me . Can you do tandem paragliding or is it just a desire to be on the same beach?

That would be right:o After working a life time, I retired last week, and now someone tells me the world is going to end in 2012:C
Forget about my bucket list, SWMBO still has her own list which has priority!:~ Wait until I tell her there is no point as the Mayans have foretold an end to the world! :U:U

May I have two buckets please? A fanciful bucket and a realistic bucket:
Fanciful:
Travel extensively along the Amazon
Visit the North of the NT or the Cape
Realistic:
Build the new shed.
Make a "pretty" (Roubo style) workbench to put inside aforementioned new shed.
Make router table utilising smart aluminium router plate only in my possesion for 3 yrs to stand alongside "pretty" workbench.
Finish renovations to house.
Eh....I might have those buckets around the wrong way, but I'm sure you understand the intent .
Regards and Happy New Year

Its the adventure of whats next and the journey:;:D If the world does end this year thats fine too, I could do with a long holiday:2tsup:

I think we should all be allowed to see a picture of Katy McEnzie. (Decent of course).
Seems the respondents of this thread, are just as interested in her, as they are the "end of the world".
Paul.
P. S. If I get busy again, can some one please inform me of when the next, "end of the world", will be.
As I get older I don't want to miss it.

I don't think it matters what she looks like.
After all, this is a thread about the "end of the world". :oo:
But before we loose this mortal coil, surely we are allowed this final question to be answered.
Actually, I would like it answered before the end of 2011. :;
But I do tend to rush things at times.

I think I have it. Undie told Katy she'd be 42 if the world didn't cease in 2012. As we know, courtesy of Douglas Adam's Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, 42 is the meaning of life.
So this put dear Katy in a dilemma: She wished to realise the meaning of life, but not at the expense of being middle aged. Undie realised his mistake the moment the forty two words left his lips, but by then it was too late.
Katy's eyes had become slits, her mouth had all but disappeared and her finger nails were extending and retracting at 50Hz. Speech was cacophanous reminding Undie of her previous life as a sluphur crested white cockatoo.
Yes. An apology would be in order. (Maybe from me:B)
Regards
Paul
PS. Let me know if I have any of this wrong.
PPS. Love the thread.

BUSHMILLER.
A good sound theory there.
But would Undie be silly enough to try and quote a ladies age.
I know I have never been that brave, or hopefully that stupid.
I also believe, Undie's "towel" would have protected him in that instance of male madness.
Paul.
This thread is getting very weird.

Hi Undie,
No wonder Woodworkers Journal called you a smart Aleck, you sure know how to get this lot wound up and I wont even mention pallet challenge.
Regards I take my hat off to you.
Edit: Their words were "wise guy". Not quite a seniors moment just lost in the double translation, I translated in my mind to what I reckoned they meant and then had to adjust what I remembered for posting

Still need to see pics of Katy.:;
See you all next year, I am off now guys.
Have a great night and a really good 2012.

Yeah..I know...She was on her way to becoming a merchant banker (in the 80s)
and I told her that there was no future in that sort of stuff.....
I advised her to re-align her chakras.......and passed her a herbal cigarette.:q
