Hey there,
My name is Chris Burgess and I'm Justtturnin. I am new to the site, obviously, and was introduced to it by a fellow IAP memeber who gave us a heads up about you Pen Swap. I am really enjoying what I am reading here and love to have another "Support Staff" to help me come to terms with my new addiction to making anything and everything ROUND.

The skinny on me. I am a 32 year old caucasion male, I live in my parents basement.......oh sorry thought I was on EHarmony:doh:............

I started turning on my Shopsmith around Easter this year when I made a few Tops for the kids Easter baskets, shortly after I abandoned flat work. I have always enjoyed working with my hands and have worked in many trades along the years. I am married to the LOML for 6 years and been with her for 10. I have the girls ages 2,4,10 who I cherish but know will kill me some day. I love to learn new things and love these forums becasue there is always someone raising the bar. My current endevors include casting. I am trying it all, I have (had) a ton of pheasant & quail feathers I am ruining trying to learn that, Snake Skin, Steampunk, Live Edge burl, Wormy Burl anything else that can go into resin and look nice. I also have recently set up a vaccum chamber for stabilizing and dying my own wood which I have had good success in. This time of year my time in the shop is limited but that is about to change. I am taking the next 2 weeks off work and am going to concentrate on setting it up the way I need it so I can get in there more often.

I look forward to learning from all of you guys here and thanks for having me.

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum Chris from the Lone Star State,
There seems to a heap of blokes who turn & make pens, so you'll have a lot of support & knowledge to work with & share.
I'm a toymaker myself and have found a great mob helpful blokes in that area of the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork.
Cheers, from "On Top Down Under" Crowie

PS - I hope you can find the right website for your other needs....lol

Welcome to the forum, taking two weeks to setup your work space. This could be interesting to watch. :U I take some time off so that I can setup things but end up doing other things to help friends out.

Well hi there Chris and welcome aboard my friend. What a great introduction. Sounds like you are outnumbered by those beautiful girls but they probably spoil you anyway.
Enjoy the forum, its a great place to be.:2tsup:
