Thanks to a birthday prezzie from SWMBO I'm crossing another item off my bucket list today :2tsup:. She got me a voucher for a tandem parachute jump (http://www.commandoskydivers.com.au/tandem.html) tandem parachute jump and I've booked it for 9:30 this morning, just a tad nervous at the moment . I'll post photo's and my reactions after/if (http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/more-news/six-cheat-death-in-tooradin-plane-crash/story-fn7x8me2-1226161891719) I get back.
Please feel free to share your "Bucket List" moments.

John if your reaction is anything like my young lee , smile as big as Texas. Good luck
He has now spent the last 4 weekends at Bridgewater learning to skydive and wants to go solo very soon. The weather has been a stumbling block as he has only been able to get one jump a weekend.
He has also pencilled in a place in Germany next year where you fly over the top of a big fan.

My first jump was solo, never bothered with the whole tandem thing.
Wet/windy weather is great for learning to pack. One can easily recover the cost of jumping by packing. Some people actually make a living from it.

I hope you enjoy your first experience.
I would like to try parachuting at least once.
But here in Tas, you have to go tandem.
I would prefer to go solo. After the proper instruction of course.

Reminds me of what a friend said when he was asked how many successful jumps did you make? His reply was all of them.

It's always puzzled me why anyone would want to jump from a perfectly good airplane.

Reminds me of the old, old song we used to sing to the tune of John Brown body lies rotting in his grave :
They took him in a plane for more than 40,000 feet,
They took him in a plane for more than 40,000 feet,
They took him in a plane for more than 40,000 feet,
And he ain't gonna jump no more!
Glory, glory, hallelujah,
Glory, glory, hallelujah,
Glory, glory, hallelujah,
And he ain't gonna jump no more!
He jumped from 40,000 feet without a parachute,
He jumped from 40,000 feet without a parachute,
He jumped from 40,000 feet without a parachute,
And he ain't gonna jump no more!
Glory, glory, hallelujah,
Glory, glory, hallelujah,
Glory, glory, hallelujah,
And he ain't gonna jump no more!
He landed on the target like a lump of strawberry jam,
He landed on the target like a lump of strawberry jam,
He landed on the target like a lump of strawberry jam,
And he ain't gonna jump no more!
Glory, glory, hallelujah,
Glory, glory, hallelujah,
Glory, glory, hallelujah,
And he ain't gonna jump no more!
They scraped him off the target with a rusty razor blade,
They scraped him off the target with a rusty razor blade,
They scraped him off the target with a rusty razor blade,
And he ain't gonna jump no more!
Glory, glory, hallelujah,
Glory, glory, hallelujah,
Glory, glory, hallelujah,
And he ain't gonna jump no more!
They slid him in an envelope and sent him home to mom,
They slid him in an envelope and sent him home to mom,
They slid him in an envelope and sent him home to mom,
And he ain't gonna jump no more!
Glory, glory, hallelujah,
Glory, glory, hallelujah,
Glory, glory, hallelujah,
And he ain't gonna jump no more!
His mom wasn't home, so they fed him to the dog,
His mom wasn't home, so they fed him to the dog,
His mom wasn't home, so they fed him to the dog,
And he ain't gonna jump no more!
Glory, glory, hallelujah,
Glory, glory, hallelujah,
Glory, glory, hallelujah,
And he ain't gonna jump no more!
The dog didn't like him so they threw him in the trash,
The dog didn't like him so they threw him in the trash,
The dog didn't like him so they threw him in the trash,
And he ain't gonna jump no more!
Glory, glory, hallelujah,
Glory, glory, hallelujah,
Glory, glory, hallelujah,
And he ain't gonna jump no more!
Peter.

Grand daughter did a tandem jump several years ago.

Grumpy, Happy birthday, I had my 76th yesterday , congratulations on your jump. I can't look over the side of a tall building, vertigo takes over, I can't explain why, I think the adrenalin just controls me and I have to back off.
Cheers John ( I,m grumpy to )

My cousin took it up for a while. Her husband refused to join her. He's an ex-paratrooper and argued that he was paid to do it then.
cheers,

I crossed another challenge off the bucket list yesterday. I did a bungy jump at A.J. Hackett while on holiday at Cairns. I was OK untill I stood on the platform and then I just froze. I was convinced that I would hit the roof of the building, not the most graceful jump but I did it :2tsup:.

I tried to upload the video, but got an error message. I'll try to upload the vid when I getback home.

Heights are strange. I can go up in an aeroplane, a glider or a balloon but being within sight of an edge tends to cause a certain set of sphincter muscles to close violently.
My bucke list is much more mundane:
# Treck through the Attacama desert.
# Journey across the Sahara form Marakesh to Timbuctoo
# See the great migraton across the Serengeti.

You have more balls than I Grumpy, think I'd do a little wee in my pants if I did that. Like your facelift on the parachute jump, most impressive.
