View Full Version : stubble

Now that I do more crafty stuff in the workshop, I find myself sharpening more and more. it has been my practice to run the blade down my left forearm to shave the hairs to test the sharpness of said blade.
Question : will this hair become stubble over time due to repeated shaving ? or should I make an effort to shave other parts of my body ?
thank you in advance.
Best Regards
Zed.

I think you'll find that waxing is the preferred method of hair removal amongst our more hirsute European cousins.

A 3'' scar on my left forearm reminds me not to do this anymore.

Zed,
as a chimp you've got plenty of hair to shave, why restrict yourself to just the arms?

A mate told me he got a back, crack and sack once. Now THAT sounds painful. He reckons it feels good in summer. I'm not in a hurry to find out.
Is this bordering on bad taste?

Hi Zed http://www.ubeaut.biz/wave.gif
If it was going to turn to stubble, I don't think our swimmers/cyclists would shave/wax. And since the hair on our arms/legs isn't pubic hair, would be very hard to turn to stubble...

Mate, I just had a terrible thought. What happens to you on a bad hair day? :D

Well if ripping your hair out by the roots doesn't appeal to you, you could burn it off with a laser :D :D
Oh and be paying through your hairless nose for the pain inflicted.
On a more serious note  if your as hairy as your avatar then if it does turn to stubble you could save money on sandpaper :D :D

bunch a girls..
back, crack and sack don't hurt a bit!!!!
All you are suppose to be men not wimperin little girls!
On another note, It wont go like stubble on your arm, when it first grows back it will be sharp and ruff but nothing like your face which is suppose to be thick like your head of hair.

if you shave under your arms yes you do get stubble - what did you think happens .. the hairs appear full length like magic ?
I'm willing to bet that if society expected guys to shave under their arms in order to wear a sleeveless top you soon wouldn't see many guys in vests in summer.
It is a source of total amazement to me that guys who prove how close we are related to apes( back hair, chest hair, leg hair, arm hair, hair all over the backs of their hands and feet, nose hair, ear hair etc etc) feel qualified to comment on women's body hair which is just as natural as theirs but usually less prolific. Still, looking on the bright side, intelligent women know that if a guy is offended by a woman's leg or armpit in its natural state then the guy isn't worth bothering with anyway :D

Proud of my body hair too... but who here hasn't done something stupid when you been looked at by someone with a devilish grin and a cheeky gleem in there eye??? and it doesn't hurt (and I hadn't been drinking) someone who knows what there doing (a women) will do it properly!
On my other comment, you will get stubble anywhere you shave untill it grows bast the stubble point however it doesn't get thicker or corser from shaving it happens because of pubity.
So shave away on your arm.. you wont get a beard.. just a slight case of a 5 o'clock shadow for a little while!

Why then, do so many intelligent women shave their armpits/legs/bikini lines etc??? :p

Peer pressure from an early age followed by habit and fear that they might find that there are actually NO men out there worth bothering with :( .
Shaving your legs and armpits seems to be a badge of maturity ( like buying your first bra even if you've got nothing to stick in it ) that girls do whether they need to or not. I consider myself very fortunate that having beaten up one of the group of fashion nazis in my year at school very early on in my career I wasn't subject to much in the way of peer pressure :D And I can confirm that there are men out there worth bothering with :D
I'm curious, how many guys would commit to the bother for the rest of their days of shaving their back and chest if the woman of their dreams didn't like hairy backs or chests ?

The dear thing that fell in love with me, did so when long hair was fashionable and I had hair on my shoulders and half way down my back.
30-something years later she still seems to love me even though I now cut my hair with a #2 mostly, but I still have hair on my shoulders and half way down my back...
How does that work???

Well, I did it once, not again.. didn't like feeling like a kid.
There are things I do for the person I love, they don't don't like all that much, Its a small thing for me to do for all I get out of the relationship and if that meant shaving my back or chest then so be it (Although I don't need to shave my back, don't have shag carpet there!)

Put on the wax with against the hair pull the skin very tight and rip off in the same direction the hair grow (Pulling the skin tight dulls the pain receptors in your legs and doing the wax remove fast in the direction of the hair reduces the amount of pain..
Or so I am confidently told thats how you do it... I wasn't watching when it was happening to me

OK Gemi, you can omit the olive oil and use melted wax instead.
As for intelligent women who shave, I used to work with social workers who shaved their heads and had big hairy legs, doubt they could afford the wax.
