G'Day,
My name is Blaze. I live in Reservoir, Melbourne.
I'm a software engineer by trade. Wood working has been a hobby of mine since high school. In year 10 I made a big-ass coffee table out of meranti that's still sitting in my lounge room today.
Recently I made this pirate chest for a 4yo boy. I still need to add a bit more detail to it like leather straps and a few more brass corners but the little tucker wouldn't wait for it anymore. He just sits in front of it taking off the big brass padlock and putting it on again. He keeps his toys in it.

The reason I enjoy woodworking for a hobby is I like working with my hands. I love making something that's natural and beautiful, something that represents time and effort well spent. And I love walking around my home looking at beautiful furniture I made myself.
Also the stuff you find in most shops is absolute crap, and if it's not, the price is absolute crap. So I'd rather just build things.
My next project is going to be a four-poster bed ;)
Following that, a lady friend of mine wants a kitchen island bench.
After that I'm making a new coffee table out of some big planks of mahogany I just scored off a friend.
Then I need to make a display case for my Boris Vallejo knives.
Next comes an ornate sewing box with an embedded picture made out of different coloured timber for my nana.
And finally I need to make a kitchen bench for myself.
Oh, and I actually need to make a new work bench before I start all this.
So I guess I'm on here because I've got a few projects planned and I seriously need to upgrade my knowledge and skill-set.
I'll see you all around :)
