The time delay is there to frustrate spammers, if they can only send one PM at t time and then have to wait for 90 seconds before sending another, they soon get sick of it and leave.

This is for members protection, otherwise we would have everyone's inbox full in a matter of hours with all sorts of garbage from phone sellers to #### peddlers.

Be thankful you can send them at all some of the worst affected forums have turned off PM's all together.

Can't see that it is a problem, ie waiting that is

I usually have a little game and see if I can press the send button and get the message back that I have to wait a second. It appeals to my bizarre sense of humour.

Besides with most of us we can't think quickly enough to do a new post within about 120 seconds.

My problem was I was trying to assist another forumite out in replying to his 3 PM's, during the waiting time my systems shut down restarted so I had to re-do the whole PM again :~ Yeh ok my system shutting down is a problem :- I am working on.
I was also heading back into the shed away from the computer.:U:D and making shavings while the sunshines.

Yep if I was a spammer I'd give up too sending PM's even being a member trying to help out someone else I'd give up.

If it wasn't for measures like this and others we have in place, you wouldn't be able to help anyone because there would so much spam and other garbage on the forums that you wouldn't be able to find the genuine posts amongst the piles and piles of rubbish.

There are around 500 spammers, pornpeddlers, and other ne'er-do-wellers denied access to the forums every day and many more that get through and are stopped from spreading their rot by limiting pm's/emails, the full-on vigilance of the Admin Team and the ongoing help of members who report spammers.

If the time delay is just too long and you're a very fast typer, copy and paste the second message to an email, pick up the phone or just hang on for a minute. You could also copy and paste the 3 pm's into 1 or just answer the 3 of them in 1 message.

Life may be short, but strewth...... Getting the sheeits because your computer shut down and you had to redo the message again. Not our fault, it could have shut down at anytime whilst you were doing the pm and you would have had to redo it again. Again not our fault or our problem.

If you use the latest Firefox and the system shuts down, it should be able to restore the session including the already typed pm waiting to be sent.

You'd give up a lot sooner if we opened up the pm system to all without the time delay, because you can just about bet, that at least one of the messages you get shortly after will contain a link to a virus or site that could track your every key stroke, steal your identity, shut down your computer and maybe even fry its brain.

Apart from the frustration. Is losing a couple of minutes out of your day to help someone really such a terrible thing. If so.......

Thanks all for your input and understanding obviously a stressful situation all round. I will in future consider the situation more carefully.

I will say though that at not time did I say I had the sheets about it unhappy/thumbs down yes.

The reason for this is many do ask PM's be sent for such as Freebies, address, phone numbers.
I'll let you work out why I could not reply to 3 Pm's in one as it seems the answer is in the title and time between each would unless I am mistaken been the same for the fellow I received them from
