Hi All. I repaired a few planks on a oak floor. I took the old finish off down to bare wood. The stain used was the original, so the match was good. My problem is the sheen in the new work is really obvious compared to the old work. This has been a good while so age has not toned it down. I tried using fine steel wool but it just shined it more. Is there anything that can be added to dull satin poly more? I would like to just recoat all of it but it is a big house with massive pieces of furniture. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

hi
if you an get your hands on a "maroon pad" this is light abrasive and cuts back the shine. you can obtain these from any floor sanding supply shops, even some commercial cleaning shops that supply various pads for polishing machines. otherwise ring anrofloorcare pty ltd in melbourne and they can supply you with one.

Thanks Angela, yes I have seen the maroon pads but forgot about them.
