View Full Version : What happened to the shiny picture viewer?

Hi guys and gals,
Ive been away for a while and I think in the meantime the picture viewer feature may have been turned off? The one where you click on a thumbnail to get an enlarged view of an attachment (the rest of the page blacks out in the background), and then you can skip to the next picture of that post and so on. It seems now all that happens is that it opens in a new tab/window which makes it a bit hard to look at all the attachments of a post....
Any way to turn it back on for your own account (if your own machine is up to it) or was it too hungry for the server/s?
Cheers,
Shannon.

It might have been a previous upgrade of software (VBulletin), now upgraded further. The AAW forum has that feature, and I find it underwhelming - needs a second click for full window.
Cheers,
Joe

Been like that for ages and ages and you haven't been away for that long going by your posts.
Anyway just for the fun of it i have turned it back on. The pics will come up either when you hover over the thumbnail or click on it. No where near as quick as the other way but does allow the viewing on multiple pics by scrolling.

Is there an option that requires you to click on the thumbnail before the full size image pops up?

I don't like it either. Can it be individually customised? I hate it when windows pop up without my authorisation. Clicking is fine, hovering is not. Thanks.

I queried the disappearance of the picture navigator when it occurred, on or about the 14th June 2009, and was informed that it was very slow to load and the tabbed viewing method was chosen to overcome this.
Having had the opportunity to become familiar with the tabbed system and now directly compare it with the navigator, I can see that the advice given 2 years ago was indeed on the mark.
I've been converted and my preference now belongs with the tabbed viewer. :2tsup:
Anyway just for the fun of it i have turned it back on.
Surely the fun part was seeing how many of us turkeys would have a whinge about the changes. :D

One person complains and we are all punished.:((
To dammed slow and I can't open multiple photos in separate windows and go back to the text and compare.

I've had my fun and put it back the way it was. Unfortunately Robomanic hasn't been back to see just how bad it was.
I said it back in 2009 and I say it again now. Much faster this way. Only draw back is you can't scroll if there's a heap of thumbnails, but you can go back and forth between them quicker than you can initially scroll scroll through them.
Thank you to all the above who validated the original switch off by asking for it to be switched off once again.

I knew I wasn't imaginging things! I was sure that last week the images loaded differently, but only for a day or so.... thought I'd wandered to a different forum!
