Woodwould

I think we've all had brushes with the authorities on our way home from the odd soiree over the years, but being older and smarter, Mrs. Wood and I have done something about it: Last night we went out for a few quiet drinks and ended up having a few loud ones too.
Knowing full well we were wasted, we did something we've never done before: We took a bus home. What's more, we arrived home safely and without incident which was a quite a surprise really since Mrs. Wood has never driven a bus before.

Just a bit heavier than catching a tennis ball.:2tsup:

I think this is the same point at which the Americans invoke the 5th. Whatever that might be.

There are 6 bottles of Whisky in an imperial gallon but only 5 in an American gallon, hence the 5th in American literature.

From Wikepaedia:
"The Fifth Amendment protects witnesses from being forced to incriminate themselves (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-incrimination). To "plead the Fifth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleading_the_Fifth)" is to refuse to answer a question because the response could provide self-incriminating evidence of an illegal act punishable by fines, penalties or forfeiture."
I like the alchoholic analogy; Much more interesting and is more closely aligned to Woodwould's story':).
The difference in american and imperial gallons is probably why we ended up with 44gal drums. I suspect in america they are 50gals.

Drums here are typically 55 gallons and 25 gallons. Good luck trying to figure that one out.:?:?
The fifth of whiskey is history. Booze has been metric here for several years. The fifth is still convenient in conversation, though; e.g. "For a safe and sane fourth of July, don't buy a fifth on the third." And old hot-rodders will remember, "I've got four on the floor, and a fifth under the seat."
Cheers,
Joe
