Hi all, my name is Carlos, I'm 28 and I'm from Portugal.

I'm just giving my first steps in woodworking (learning by myself and from the web), so I hope to learn a lot in here :D

Here in Portugal woodworking is no more a craft, its industrialized and its very hard to find someone who actually makes things by hand. I find it a bit difficult to buy tools here, I have to order from the UK most of the time, and go to flee markets for old hand tools, but most is badly damaged or incomplete.

Best regards,
Carlos Jorge

Welcome Carlos, I'm sure you will find the forum helpful and a lot of fun. What sort of things do you want to make?

Thanks for the welcome.

I' currently making a table lamp and restoring a small cabinet with 24 drawers.

I'm also making some jigs for my miter saw and for my drill press, both are cheap models but for now they are enought :)

Unfortunately the only wood I can get my hand on is pine, hardwoods are really expensive and rare here... so expect almost all my projects to be in pine...

Welcome.

Many of us are all searching for old tools. Sometimes the older a tool is the better the steel is.

I have nearly done a 360 degree. Started with hand tools, moved onto power, and now realizing that power is not always the answer, so it is back to hand tools as much as possible, especially those I can repair or make myself.
