Me and my partner are moving to mid-north coast NSW soon and looking for a place to rent - long term - around Kendall, Wauchope, St Johns River way. We're not fussed about the condition of the house as we'd be happy to do it up on a barter basis - your materials, our labor, for a negotiated rent reduction. However, the property MUST have a decent secure, powered (single phase is fine) shed or sheds for my woodwork machinery, tools and fine stock of huon pine.
We have a 2 year old house trained Jack Russell. We are non-smokers in our late 50's and we live quiet lives. Its too damn cold here in Tassie and my arthritis can't take it anymore.
Please post a PM if you know of anything that might suit us.
Thanks
Mike and Kerin

Good luck withy your move - it's a lovely area, though I can't help. My mother grew up on a dairy farm around the NSW southern Highlands, but it was always too wet, so they moved to Wauchope - ended up being far too dry

I haven't been to the area in a couple of years, but always enjopy the visit.

Cheers,
Dave

Mike, watch out for all sorts of pirates, with that Huon loot on board. I cant help you with a property, but it'll be good to see you enjoy some warmth and sun.

They (the spars that is) could end up in the For Sale forum if I can't fit them in the moving load.

Yeah as Wheeler says I'm riddled with arthritis and can't cope with cold weather like we get here (-3, -2, -4 overnight the past 3 nights) so if its got a name ending in "Top" its prolly too cold for me.
Cheers

Got a good trailer to load my stuff on now. We'll be heading up to Port Macquarie way via the Pacific Highway most likely and as the load will be open to pilfering i've either gotta drive non-stop from Melb to PM or get some secure parking spots on the way up - prolly 2 nights in all - if there's anyone living on or just off the Pacific Highway who would be willing to let me park in their secure driveway overnight it'd be mightily appreciated (we'd book into a local motel for the night). I'll be driving a Toyoto hilux and pulling an 8 x 5 Tandem trailer. PM me if anyone is able to help during the week of the 20 July (not sure what nights at this stage).
Cheers
Sheddie looking for a shed. :D

Might need a strong coffee by the time I get up your way Wheeler :2tsup:

Take your time and enjoy the trip. Having done the trip recently but the other way (Sydney to Hobart) I wish I'd taken a bit more time to check out a few places on the way as I doubt I'll be back that way for a long time, if ever.

I might try your idea of advertising for a place to live for when my house sitting gig finishes in 2 months. Most of the properties I've seen for rent seem to be short term e.g 12 months which I suspect is due to the slack housing market at present. Rent it out for 12 months then sell. I want somewhere I can settle, and, like you, consider a shed/garage as mandatory. :)

awright you lot....I'm here and its just as wet and cold :(( - although today (Tuesday) shows promise. I apologise to everyone for not being the victim of sundry cups of coffee, bushrangers and other nefarious plotters but the trip was slow going and I just wanted to get here. Required an overnight stop in Wangaratta (2 new tyres for the trailer :oo:) and Mittagong (tired). In a caravan park now until we find some more permanent digs but have a very nice shed long term. 10m x 8m so plenty of room  (once I get rid of the owners mountain of junk). Can't believe the price of treated pine here. NZ imports at between 3.40 and 4.00 per lineal - garden grade. same stuff in Tassie 2.30 lineal metre. Welcome to the real world I hear you all chorusing.... Let me know if there are cheaper places than Bunnings at Port Macq. Planning to chop up some of my Huon stash to make some breadboards for quick cash. Dunno what to charge so will test the market at the high end until they beat me down:(. Anyway will log on again soon.
Cheers
Mike
