scratchy black japan wooden floors

Finishing off a huge renovation. Floors have been polished and stained with a black japan finish but a lot of tradespeople have been trafficking through the house and the floors have hundreds of scratches on them.

Is black japan suppose to be durable?
How can i fix this scratchy problem?

As you might of guessed i have nothing to do with wood!
Please give me any advise on the above.
