Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to match an existing Maple steps (no previous stain or varnish) to either the new Australia's Blue Gum floor or old stair handle (Maple with Feast Watson Antique Cherry Stain & Varnish).

Has anyone sucessfully match Maple to Blue Gum that they can provide tip? This is my preference but the flooring contractor said this was hard to do.

Alternatively, Feast Watson has discontinue the Antique Cherry Stain & Varnish. Does anyone have some that are close to Bankstown, NSW or can refer me to a store that still have this stain & varnish?

Much appreciate any help in advance for a newbie.

Justin

Good for you Justin you just discovered something for yourself that most will never figure out. Experimenting by mixing colours isn't rocket science and can get you just what you want or pretty close to it with a little bit of trial and error.

Well done. :2tsup:

Not easy to do when trying to match different timbers and also the actual look and age of the coating does play a role in final finish.
If you wanted a natural oiled look, check out either the Livos Kunos natural oil sealer. this product comes in various stains and can be mixed and matched. two stores in sydney have little sample posts of the Livos products.
