Hi I am coming to the end of building 52 square meters of decking using recycled Jarrah. during the build i used some of the wood to build a computer bench finishing it with bess wax with stunning effect.
Has anyone ever used Bees wax on external Jarrah?

It'll look good for a couple of weeks.
Then UV, heat cycling and rain will start degrading it, dirt will get stuck in gaps where the wax is softened by heat, it'll scrape off in traffic areas, and it'll generally look 'orrible!
Flood's Spa and Deck seems to be the finish that is most liked on the Renovate Forums.

Hi and thanks for your responce. I forgot to say that I have already used deck oil on the flooring portion of the deck and only looking for advise on banister top. I have sanded bringing the grain right out and want to show it off to its full

Still going to be degraded unless you are going to continue to rewax?

Yep what they said, you don't see bees building outside with wax:D

Hi Patrick
You need something with a UV barrier for outside, especially so in Perth, or it will all turn grey within 6 months.
I'm not sure what to recommend for external decking outside but you will find something at Bunnies, which is where I went. There are a number of oils available. Be aware that you will need to reapply once a year (or it will weather to grey).
Regards from Perth
