That would be good Victorian's coming to learn to turn the NSW way :U or is this just a Victorian Turn fest across the boarder.:; Still should be a whole lot of fun.

Definitely NOT a Victorian event. This will be pure NSW, although Mexicans are invited.... Seriously, we are hoping this will bring the concept of "Turn-abouts/Fests etc" into the Sydney area, although it's 80 km away from the Bridge. What better place to have such an event than in the beautiful Blue Mountains

Sounds very interesting. Glad NSW has something like this on - sick of reading about the Vic ones :)
Bringing the lathe will be a challenge, but worth the effort, I think.
Cheers,

Kekemo Blue Mountains is very accessible, so is the venue.
Plane to Sydney, Train (if your pensioner $2.50) to Blue Mountain's bring your camera just for scenery. Many coaches also do motel pick up maybe if there were enough people flying in Rhys could organise a coach for everyone if arriving the same day.:;
Pity that gnome bloke Dingo has given up woodworking you could have dragged him along.:;

Hey Kekemo,
Sent you an email, forget bringing your lathe, we will provide one for sandgropers. Public transport from airport to Katoomba very easy, but it's about a 2 hour trip, the last hour very scenic. We can pick up at Katoomba station.
Hope to see you there

Great idea, we've been given a coach for the weekend by the local council. We are going to use it for tours on Saturday for the "non woodturning" participants. We should be able to use it for a pickup from Mascot, if the number are there, on the Friday. We certainly can arrange a pickup from, and return to, Katoomba station for those coming by train

Don't think the council coach has a lift but we will provide whatever assistance we can, if needed.

A special event is planned for the Turning Escape 2012. All attendees are invited to bring along their "special or unique" lathes and tools. There will be an opportunity for you to demonstrate your "pole / treadle / steam / bike / etc lathe" or your "home made / ancient / unique / magic / etc tools". There's plenty of room to put them on display and exhibit your creativity and quirky woodworking ambitions. Take the opportunity to plan for this event. Book early and avoid disappointment, remember attendance will be limited to 120 people. Click here "Index (http://www.bluemtnswoodturners.org.au)" to go to the website for more details and applications forms.
