Hi,
I had 20 odd doors made of oregan acid dipped to rid them of the lead paint.
Subsequently they have dried out a bit and cracked which is easy to repair.
But on some of the doors the grain has lifted.

I've heard of grain fillers to make the surface smooth for painting over but I don't know where to start buy etc!

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

I use Feast Watson Sander Sealer to fill the grain on open pore guitar bodies (eg American Ash)

Although it says paint with a brush, let it dry then sand, I apply with a rag to get a thinner coat.

If you brush it on it is too thick and will clog the sandpaper (even 80 grit) when you try to rub it back.

Go through the papers to what ever you want - it will be silky smooth and very accepting of your top coat!
