No; this is not my computer, although it seems like it sometimes; it is what Popular Mechanics predicted in 1954 that a home computer would look like in 2004.

thats not a home computer, its a portable. Its got a steering wheel, so you must be able to drive it to work.

I really love the steering wheel.

What the hell was that for

What vision they had in those days, while mine doesn't actually look the same, the way it acts sometimes it might as well be the same. :(

How about the telly strung up on the wall.

Was that so you could watch "The Honneymooners" while you were waiting for your program to load ? :D

I especially like the big steering wheel. Helps heaps with navigating from one site to the next. I didn't see a compass anywhere. ??? One could get lost in cycber space.

Why did they stick it in a switch gear room?

Although separated by time great minds think alike. :D I have a small tv next to my computer and yes, while the board is loading, I look at it. :D

Only trouble is that todays programs are not as good as the Honeymooners.

snopes is an interesting site tho.AHHH< but perhaps the article exposing the photo as a hoax, is a hoax, and the original photo is indeed original and not a hoax, therefore proving its unhoaxness, and uncovering the hoax article, claiming the photo is a hoax, as a hoax.

Linelefty,

I should have known it was an urban myth. Thanks for pointing that out.

No worries, it's just like that time I woke up in an ice bath with this wound in my side.....................

Yes, thinking about it, it must be a hoax. Fortran didn't appear until the early sixties.

Well spotted Grunt. I have to admit I didn't read the caption.

I guess the late 50's early sixties telly strung on the wall is a bit of a give away too. :D

It's still a funny pic though.

On a serious note (whatever that means) I recall reading that the on board computers used by NASA for the first manned moon landing had less memory than a personal organiser, and a bit bigger too.

The average car or truck has more computing power than NASA used to put a man on the moon. Progress? I wonder sometimes. ;)

:D I want one of those new computers the police have - you only have to punch them once to get the information out.

Sorry Dan & others :D

Can't you get arrested for punching a copper? Even if he is a woodworker?
