i have been offered a rather old gramophone which is missing a few bits, including a foot and some fretwork but that's neither her nor there. Thing is though there are tiny little holes all over one leg which no doubt are the same little critters that took up residence in my house many years ago. Cabot's "Bar-D-K" took care of the residentual ones but i was wondering if i use that to dispose of them in the gramophone, would it have any effect on the finish after i fix it up?

Good question. I can only suggest trying it all out on a scrap piece of timber first to see what happens. Another idea is to apply a seal coat of shellac (eg UBeauts White Shellac) before applying further finish.

Bob love to see a before photo of your old gramaphone and an after shot when you finish. I love those old radios. What brand is it?

Will do Lignum. I believe it is a "Salonola" but i am not 100% sure, it is still living at the other persons house until i can house it without the critters taking up residence in my place. I have researched it previously (I'm a bit of an historic buff ) and am currently researching what timbers and varnishes they used. I will keep you posted.
