If you want the complete story you can't trust the media. All they want is attention grabbing headlines and at the moment anything to do with misbehaviour by sportmen is flavour of the month. Racial abuse is not seen as selling newspapers nor is irresponsible serving of alcohol.

Your sentiments are true enough Jim. I just wonder, however, why we still see so much of this sort of abuse.
I see and hear it more frequently than I care to. I hear fathers talking in uncomplimentary terms in front of their children, I see abuse hurled from cars and I hear countless racial "jokes".
If someone deserves a serve then why bring race into it.???
That episode in a Sydney Pizza Hut (?) where a young smart #### kept asking for ham or bacon and had his goon friends record the whole affair to give to a TV station was disgraceful. Shame on the media, shame on the buch of turkeys who proppmpted this reaction, and sham one the law makers for not framing laws that have the ability to deal with such crap.
I think I would be inclined to believe Benji ahead of a pack of smart #### goons. But that doen't seem to be the point, does it???:?

Noticed it myself Art. I think there are two problems. The 'unthinking' racism that seems to be more prevalent and the real racists. The latter seem to feel safer these day espousing their points of view.
I find it really painful when someone you know and thought were sensible comes out with some of the crap that's floating around.
Cheers,
Jim

I trust Ray won't mind but we have had alittle privae debate on this issue via PMs.
One thing we both hit on was the fact that so often the abused who retaliates is the one in strife!
How much is one expected to tak ebefore retaliating physically? I think it is part of human nature to react to threats and abuse in a physical way. These days we are taught that this is not right.
Puts me in mind of that wonderful definition of stress: Stress is the confusion that arises when the mind overides the body's desire to beat the living shyte out of some @($*$^ who thoroughly deserves it.

Agreed. The abused are accused of being overly sensitive when they complain, never mind retaliate. Everyone has a right to their opinion they are told.
Free speech should be a given in a civilised society but more and more I keep seeing it degenerating into a licence to purvey lies and hatred.
Cheers,
Jim
