I can beat that!
I recently bought an HP colour ink-jet from Officeworks for $48.
Additional colour and black cartridge was an extra $97
The printer proudly proclaimed it was made from recycled plastics.

Yes, this is known as a Loss Leader Strategy. They suck consumers in with a below cost promotion and regain the profit on consumables or other products.:~
A fact of life in the modern consumer oriented world. Caveat Emptor.

This is a laser printer, so takes toner, not ink. Laser printers often have a smaller capacity toner cartridge installed (good for, say, 200 or 500 pages), probably to deal with being physically moved around during warehousing/delivery/etc, and sitting unused for who-knows-how-long before being bought.
The full price / full capacity toner cartridges usually will print far more pages - in this case the high yield cartridge is rated for 1,500 pages (and can be bought in Aust. for about $70)
So, you do need to consider how many printed pages you get for your initial and subsequent dollars - the 2nd $70 can get you a new printer+500 printed pages, or 1500 printed pages out of your existing printer. Your call.
Cheers,
Andrew
