:U I am in the process of finishing off a dozen outdoor settings as an order. What would be the optimum finish for these as of course they will be outside in all weathers. Timber is Macracarpa Pine. Do I go oil, acrylic, mineral base, solvent base,or what do people recommend.Keen to see what people recommend and for why.Thanks.:U:U

I offered some rantings about this subject in this thread:

best finish for spotted gum/ironbark - Woodwork Forums (http://www.woodworkforums.com/f9/best-finish-spotted-gum-ironbark-130182)

Since you're doing it as an order for a (probably unsuspecting) client,
the real question is how long you're guaranteeing the finish for? (Ha!)

There are some type finishing material are design for outdoor. The material selection is depend on the finishing look, color and quality required.
The PU outdoor is may the most durable material with the most available choice for the color and looked.
If you want the simple transparent finish then the spar varnish is a good option.
