Good Morning Friends,
When I needed to cut dadoes for a bookshelf I was building lately, I came up with a different method to do so without setting up a jig and clamping it to my workpiece.

How do you think I did it?

Perhaps you could put the bookcase on its side and use the top or the base as a fence for your router. Install the next shelf and then use that shelf as the fence for the next dado etc. You could use boards of various widths against the previous shelf as the fence.

Cutting with a handsaw works OK, is quite quick and is not as difficult as it might first seem. You can remove the waste with a chisel or router plane.

Obviously using the handsaw would not be suitable for production runs but it could be used and was used in the past.

Just use the edge guide for the router.

Good Evening Friends,
When making dadoes for shelves in the bookshelf sides, just flip your dovetail machine 180º and use the back side of the guide as a straight edge.
Clamp the side in the machine and have at it.

Thank you for your support.
